We just loved our stay. You were both such kind hosts and were very helpful. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The furniture was giving narnia vibes and the bed was super comfy, better than ours back home. We couldn’t find fault with our stay. It was perfect.

The advice on where to dine was spot on and very appreciated. Loved all the little decor touches.

Beautiful , elegant, yet comfortable stay. The nice touches by the hosts such as the tea service in the room made it more special. Lovely breakfast in the morning and we enjoyed the conversation with Avril who also provided great ideas of places to see on our travels. Would happily stay here again!

The hosts were super friendly and took the time to chat. The rooms were nicely renovated and very comfortable. There was onsite parking, the property was easy to locate and only a short walk from the castle and pubs. Just lovely.

The warm welcome from Avril and the great suggestions re where to eat and places to visit. The cut through to the town centre Avril advised us of meant we were a short walk in. She also bought a lighter duvet when we were hot in the room so great attention to detail.

We both loved our stay, especially the very personable welcome from Avril and our lovely chat on Sunday morning after breakfast. I am coelaic and was well looked after. I had lovely gluten free porridge which kept me going all day! We hope Neil makes a full recovery.

Hello Avril and Neil! Rob and I cannot thank you enough for our PHENOMINAL stay! You set the tone and a VERY bar for the rest of our trip, and, honestly, for our vacationing future! We miss Athlone, and we can’t stop telling our friends and family about the city, you, our wonderful hosts, and beautiful Riverdale House. Your warm hospitality, attention to detail in all aspects of our stay, and your exceptional suggestions about what to do and see in Athlone and beyond were appreciated more than I can express. From the moment we walked through the door, to the kind ride Avril gave us to the train station, we felt so comfortable! Our room was perfect, our meals were delicious, and seeing you both at various times throughout our stay was delightful. Staying at Riverdale House was like staying with dear friends. Our small family (2 Adult, 1 Teen) stayed comfortably in the Canal Room thanks to the thoughtful layout of the room with amble space around all edges of both beds, plenty of electrical outlets, and well positioned lighting. The decor was traditional but very clean and modernised giving the room a rustic charm while keeping it fresh looking. Walking into town was easily done from this location with a near straight shot to the bridge. Parking was amble, and hosts were authentic and knowledgeable about the town. Our schedule did not allow for sampling of breakfast, but it looked and smelled nice!

En-suite toilet flushing took a while to master, but once understood, was managed easily enough.

Great walkable locating and the property was amazingly clean. Avril and Neil were great host and we had a great stay!

I booked last minute, I had a few questions before arriving and my email was answered immediately. The room was very cosy and the breakfast in the lovely breakfast room was good. I forgot my charger in the room and Neil contacted me so I could pick it up which was greatly appreciated as I needed the cable to charge my phone on the way back to Dublin!

We were welcomed with an open heart in this beautiful B’n’B. A loving home, even if it was just for one night. Thank you for sharing your time and an insight in Irish history and your personal life. It made our last night in this wonderful country very special. We loved the room, decorated so tastefully and very clean, enough space for the suitcases, too.

Everything! The warmth and kindness of the owners, their recommendations, the cleanliness and the quietness of the room. Also the view, as our room was facing a magnificent old willow tree.
